![]() It was average in cost compared to other places we had eaten with far superior food. Simply amazing! Our waiter Jeff was also excellent. I had the apple crumb cheese cake a la mode, and he had the peanut butter pie. We were stuffed but had to try the desserts we saw other people having. My partner had the porkchop dinner which he devoured it tasted so good. Restaurant in the parking lot was packed (Fireside Cafe, I think). So thick and juicy they give you a steak knife. Now 103 (Was 130) on Tripadvisor: Heritage Inn & Suites Ridgecrest - China Lake. NO!! This was two nice sized medallions of chicken with some fresh tomatoes and just a bit of mozzarella cheese and basil. the same old chicken breasts flattened with mozzarella etc. Then a great salad not just standard greens, cucumbers, radishes etc. several more crocks of that soup and made it a meal it tasted so good. We both had a crock of the crab soup, correctly seasoned and balanced. The food: Every single thing we had was mouth watering and fantastic. This was our first time to this spectacular place. We visit Lancaster 3-4 times a year and with the hundreds of restaurant options there, although the atmosphere and food was nice/good, we most likely will not ever return to the Fireside Tavern. My advise to management is to take a strong look at your staff and recognize the wonderful employees and then realize which ones are more of a liability for repeat customers. ![]() She had never even introduced herself and the only way that we knew her name was Sherri was by her name on the bottom of our bill. If you are going to come to work in such a robotic demeanor with no happy personality, then find a different job that does not put you in the public eye. But, the continual attitude and lack of personality from our server was so disappointing. 39 Inexpensive Diners, Cafes, Breakfast & Brunch. And the lousy dessert could be pushed aside. Argued with me that I ordered dinner despite pointing at sandwich. The toddler whining next to us could be ignored. But…I always say that a server can “make or break a dining experience” and that proved to be so true. It was pie filling with crumble baked on top. The biggest disappointment was the apple crisp for dessert. And our meals were very good…although I would not say excellent. The restaurant was nicely decorated as expected. So with great anticipation we entered … that excitement soon dwindled when we realized that. I had seen the pics online and the restaurant looked nicely decorated for Christmas. We were excited to dine here while we were in Lancaster for a holiday filled weekend. ![]()
